Spider-Man masks are one of the most popular projects in the 3D printing community, so we decided to print a Miles Morales mask using the Flashforge Creator 5 Pro. The result turned out great overall—the shape is accurate, the eye frames fit well, and the textured surface really brings the model to life.
However, as with most large cosplay prints, we also discovered a few areas that could be improved.
The Print
The mask was printed in multiple parts and assembled after printing. We used black filament for the main shell and red/white filament for the eye frames, giving it the classic Miles Morales color scheme.
From a distance, the print looks fantastic and is definitely convention-ready. The geometric web pattern and textured surface are reproduced clearly, showing that the Creator 5 Pro can handle detailed cosplay models with ease.

Print Settings
Here are the settings we used for this project:
- Printer: Flashforge Creator 5 Pro
- Material: PLA
- Layer Height: 0.20 mm
- Nozzle Temperature: 220°C
- Bed Temperature: 50°C
- Print Speed: 250 mm/s
- Supports: Enabled (Tree Supports)
- Infill: 15%
- Cooling: 100% after the first few layers
These settings produced a reliable print with no major failures or warping.
What Went Well
- Excellent overall dimensional accuracy.
- The eye frames fit together with minimal post-processing.
- Surface texture on the top of the mask printed cleanly.
- No significant stringing or layer separation.
- Large model completed successfully without print failures.
Areas We'd Like to Improve
Looking closely at the front of the mask, especially around the nose and facial area, we noticed some visible imperfections.
These include:
- Slightly uneven surface texture around the center of the face.
- Minor layer inconsistencies in complex curved sections.
- Areas that could benefit from smoother surface quality before sanding and painting.
While these flaws aren't very noticeable once the mask is finished, we're always looking for ways to improve print quality straight from the printer.
Our Thoughts
Overall, we're very happy with how the Flashforge Creator 5 Pro handled this large cosplay project. Fast print speeds combined with solid dimensional accuracy make it a great option for helmets, masks, and other wearable models.
Like every printer, though, there's always room to fine-tune the settings for even better results.
