3D Printing Articulated Charms: Small Prints, Big Fun

I recently printed a collection of 3D-printed articulated charms and hanging decorations. Instead of printing large models, I wanted to try some smaller designs with moving parts, including skeletons, chains, flowers, animals, and other fun shapes.

What makes these models interesting is that many of them are print-in-place designs. The individual parts are connected during printing, but they can move freely once the print is finished. The chains, for example, can bend and swing naturally, making them perfect for hanging decorations.

I also tried different filament colors, including white, black, green, blue, red, orange, and purple. The different colors make the collection look much more lively and give each charm its own character.

Building a 3D Printed Display

To display all these small prints, I used a 3D-printed stand with multiple arms. The charms can be attached to different positions, so I can easily change their arrangement whenever I want.

The combination of the black stand and colorful hanging models creates a pretty interesting display. Some of the chains are also long enough to move when touched, which makes the whole setup feel more dynamic.

One of My Favorite Prints

Among all the models, the articulated fish skeleton is one of my favorites. The head, ribs, body, fins, and tail are connected into one movable model.

I like this type of print because it shows one of the fun sides of 3D printing. You don't always need a complicated model or a large print to get an interesting result. A small articulated design can be interactive, colorful, and useful as a decoration at the same time.

Overall, this was a simple and enjoyable project. It was also a good opportunity to experiment with different filament colors and articulated designs. If you're looking for something fun to print rather than another static model, 3D-printed articulated charms are definitely worth trying.
